Predictability in sites is an important aspect of keeping a website easily accessible to any user. For example, making the layout of each page to be similar would allow a user to become ‘used’ to the layout and they can predict where to find the main menu, home page, contact page etc.
A perfect example of predictability is Facebook. As shown in photos, no matter what page a user is on the messenger section and the top bar is always present. This means the user will always know how to search for a profile or an event, message someone and view their notifications because the means to do it are always in front of them.
This also translates to the mobile version of the app, the top bar always provides a search menu. This means that regardless of what device the user is viewing Facebook on, it will always have a familiar layout that offers predictability.
To give our website predictability for users, we kept the exact same layout for each page so the user will become familiar with the menu being right at the top of the page. We have also kept the same colours and fonts for each page to make the layout more memorable to avoid any confusion.
