So. You’re interested in making your own website. But, you have no idea where to start and all those “website builders” seem to only give you the tools, without actually teaching you how to use them.
That’s where we come in.
We are first year students of Interactive Media Design, Northumbria University, UK. As part of one module, we were tasked with researching how to produce a professional quality website; using the data we found to create our own. This website you are currently accessing is the result of such project. Don’t let that fact change your perception however, our age does not affect our understanding. As you navigate across the site, you will follow our process of going from researching usability, accessibility and visual hierarchy etc., to evaluating our individual inputs towards the finished site. Doing this will both teach you the same skills we have discovered and used to make this website, and show you how to implement them in your own.
If you’d like to make the most of this experience, we’d suggest navigating from left to right along the pages in the top menu. This way, you’ll go from preparing to make a website to looking at your final product to see how/if you could make it better.
